I used this product for my Bike(Kawa) for about year.
It worked good.
I leave it Voltage display, when it sense signal, screen get brighter and blue LED flash.
You have many options for settings.
Now I don't ride my bike as much as use to do.
I transfer unit to my car.
It Does NOT look radar/Lase Detector.
It looks like some sort of add-on meter.
and you can put sensor unit at anywhere.
Front grill and rear tray(for rear detection) maybe good place to put sensor but I was too lazy to do so.
it has too many wires to connect and route around dash.
That maybe one of con.
Once you set it up, it is very useful(it also shows Voltage/temperature) but it is NOT easy to set up physically.
I put sensor on dash, still doesn't look like Radar/Laser detector.
most of people think it is add-on volt meter or clock etc.
prevent to attract thieves.
and it doesn't look bad when you encounter cops.
(when cop see your detector, they think you are frequent speeder) |

A friend bought a Cruisader, installed it on his bike and loved it. Prior to this I had an Escort ZR-7 concealed detector and it was great. I thought I'd give this a try as it's cheaper than the ZR-7.
Reading previous comments about Cruisaders that failed out of the box or shortly after installation, I installed just the power lead, then connected the components together and powered it up before installing it on the bike. The display came on and it seemed to work, but I was unable to actually drive around and test the detection. Nevertheless, so far so good, so maybe I lucked out and got one of the good ones.
I spent the next few hours installing it on my bike. Buttoned up my bike, hit the power on switch. Nothing! Deader than a doornail. I cheched the fuse with my ohmmeter, it's good. Checked power, it's good. Checked all the wiring, everything's ok- no pinched wires, no breaks, no damage. It just won't turn on.
I'm leaving on a week-long bike trip in the morning, so I don't have time to send this back / exchange it.
Most everyone I know has an Escort Passport 8500 + Screamer sound module. Costs a little more, but I've never heard anyone having ANY trouble with them. Easier installation, no wireless headset batteries to mess with or run down, and the best detection on the market.
If I could give this ZERO stars I would. The one star is just the lower limit that Amazon allows. :(
I really wish I'd gone with an Escort instead. |
